NEW USE FOR OLD SKILLS  (28 april 2004)

As you can read in an earlier weblog, I spent some years of my life at a seminary.

There were a few things I learned there that I most probably could not have learned at any other school.

One skill that I learned was making rosaries.

A good rosary is not just made by threading beads on a string. If it is made like that and the string breaks, the beads will roll all over the floor, which may be somewhat embarrassing in a church.

Each bead must have its own separate length of wire with two eyes on it, like this:

You may wonder if it was a useless skill that I learned. Well, not completely useless, as you will see ...

My sweetheart likes to wear earrings. So finally I have found a completely new use for skills that I acquired long ago:

Even I am surprised that my years at the seminary have not been completely useless ;)
