A MEDICAL AMATEUR  (28 september 2004)

Today, my sweetheart took her first steps in the medical profession.

As you could read last week (click), a bump was surgically removed from my head.

But what comes up must go down. And what is openened must be closed. So the hole that the bump was taken out through, had to be stitched with what's known as sutures - in the household better known as stitches.

     

I was told the stitches - sorry sutures - had to be removed after a week by a GP.

But then I considered two things: a few years ago I bought a do-it-yourself box of medical tools, and my sweetheart is quite handy with needle and thread.

So I thought: Let's combine these two circumstances.

Of course, my sweetheart first resisted. But I was confident she could do it.

And now she's produced five neat stitches:

So if you need a doctor to remove any sutures, I can recommend her.

But whether she'll take it on ....
