BLEMISH ON THE MAP OF AMSTERDAM (26 june 2004)
Most people in Amsterdam will know this sight.
Du Midi, that's the name by which many older people will known this place -- although the cinema by that name was closed as early as 1982.
Hundreds of thousands of people must have seen great films in it. I for one remember such films as My Fair Lady and West Side Story.
And this how the theatre looks now:
And for the past twenty-two years it has hardly looked much better than this pitiful sight.
Amsterdam has claimed to have great plans with it.
That may be so, but it can hardly be called a thing in Amsterdam's credit that this place has been allowed to stay like this for so long.
Don't you agree Amsterdam deserve a better fate?
