COLD FISH (24 september 2004)Dark days like these remind me of an evening about forty years ago. In that period of my life, my glands of manhood were flowing quite profusely. That evening I happened to find myself in Amsterdam's famous red-light district. And with my glands flowing the way they did, I was attracted towards one window, behind which a lady in a fluorescent bikini was illuminated like fish in an aquarium.
She seemed to exude sexuality and I was drawn towards her as if by a magnet. But as soon as I had got inside, this lovely lady changed into a cold businesswoman. This transformation made my manhood shrink to a size it normally assumes in a cold swimming-pool. * * * Although I still find some of these women fascinating to see, this first experience has prevented me from knowing any of them in the biblical sense. Do I tell this to show what a good boy I am? No, on the contrary! Who knows what would have happened if this early experience had been different? No, if you see me in the red-light district, don't feel embarrassed to greet me ... unless of course you have something to be embarrassed about yourself
