SUNDAY IN AMSTERDAM (23 may 2004)Today my sweetheart and I made another of our Sunday walks about Amsterdam. As you may have read, we often have a cup of soup somewhere in the city. Today we tried The Seven Steps in Reestraat. The Seven Steps It was a simple potato soup; apart from potatoes, I tasted cream, bacon and spring onions. But I liked it, and so did my sweetheart. After this visit, we went to Dam square, where a book market was being held. It was rather late, so the most interesting books were probably sold already. Later, while we were riding back home in the tram, a realization started to dawn upon me ... hadn't I been carrying a bag with a camera and other stuff? In a few seconds I knew where I'd left it. At the first stop, we jumped off the tram and walked all the way from Leidsestraat to Reestraat (about one kilometre) at such a pace that we did it in less than ten minutes. The friendly waitress was not surprised at all and opened a closet. And yes, there was my bag! So now I can show you two pictures, one of the restaurant, the other of me and the bag that was almost lost. (red arrow to bag)
