MORE MINDLESS MOTORISTS (22 july 2008)
A few days ago you could have read how a nasty Belgian SUV was parked right across the full widith of an Oostende zebra crossing ( click).
I can imagine that some of my readers (if any) would consider this a very unlikely story, or that this is very exceptional in a civilized country like Belgium.
This morning I am at the window of our rented apartment in the Koningstraat at Oostende when I see a similar trick being pulled by another morono-motorist, yes ma'am: right across the full width of a zebra crossing. Without even as much as looking back, the driver gets out and a passing cyclist can barely avoid the opening door.
Just when I turn around to get my camera, a police car enters the street. Mr Antisocial spots it and immediately enters his car again. Probably because he is seated in his car, he's not rewarded with a fine, but needless to say that his car is ordered to leave the zebra crossing without delay.

The car is started. Again the buffoon does not even look if it's possible to drive away. Consequently he again almost knocks down a cyclist. The only piece of luck is that I can just quickly get my camera and make a picture for you.
Still believing that parking on zebra crossings is an exception, I 'm busy typing this weblog. But then I see an elderly couple having to use the driveway because another antisocial swine has rudely parked her car right across the zebra crossing.

Can you imagine I'm more and more starting to believe in exceptions?
