Telephone swindle (14 April 2004)
This afternoon at about five o'clock my telephone rang.
I picked up the receiver and heard a recorded message that had great news for me: I had won five hundred euros!
All I had to do to claim this money was: call a telephone number. I started writing down the number: 0909...
But then I realized ... 0909 ... a number I would have to pay for.
Not the first time ( click) this week that people tried to swindle the family out of their money. By the way, the number that had called me was 0018663830986 - not a regular Dutch number.
But isn't it strange that the Dutch telephone company should rent a pay-number to people who abuse it for this kind of swindle?
